A
thumb spica splint is being fitted
to the thumb portion of the hand for immobilizing the thumb
and permits continued unrestricted use of the other fingers
of the hand.
Thumb Spica Splint : The thumb
spica splint prevents the thumb from moving and pushing against
the palm. It is generally used for the broken bones or fractures.
Wrist Brace : it keeps the
wrist stationary but allows the fingers to move. It is often
used in situations where the wrist is sprained or strained
or prescription is not to move the wrist.
Pediatric Hand Splints : it
is used by doctors treating children with hand and wrist injuries.
Resting Hand Splint : This
is used in patients who suffer from hand cramps that force
their hands into a fist. A resting hand splint keeps the hand
in a resting position, with the fingers free and the palm
flat.
Weight-Bearing Splints : this
splint helps in situations where the hand becomes weak and
can't carry things. It helps building up muscle mass and strength.
Metal Hand Splint : it keeps
the hand in one position and prevents from movement. A metal
hand splint is used in situations where the patient breaks
his hand. |
